Milton, Ontario · Website design & rebuilds
We rebuild your website before you pay for it.
Then we show you the numbers.
Most websites are quoted from a proposal and judged on a mockup. We do it the other way round — we build the real thing first, you look at it, and you decide after. Everything we claim about it is measured, and you can check every number yourself.
This page
Measured with Google Lighthouse on a simulated mobile connection, against the version of this page you are reading. Open devtools and check it yourself.
01 How we know
We measure first.
Every time, before we build.
Before we approach anyone we audit their site properly — load speed, whether the phone number dials, whether there is any way to get a quote, whether the Google listing is even claimed. Below is a recent audit of 22 businesses in one industry across Halton and Guelph. Nobody asked us to run it.
It looks fine on your office wifi. That's exactly why nobody has told you.
The heaviest homepage we found — measured, not estimated
| Businesses audited | 22 |
| Median mobile performance score | 63 / 100 |
| Scored under 80 | 20 of 21 |
| Median time for the main image to load | 11.6 s |
| Took longer than 10 seconds | 13 of 21 |
| No way to book online | 20 of 22 |
| No contact form at all | 17 of 22 |
| Phone number not tappable on a phone | 6 of 22 |
| Google listing unclaimed or broken | 3 of 9 checked |
A customer on a phone plan pays for those 36 megabytes. Most of these sites cost a visitor more data than downloading an album — and the owners have no idea, because it all looks fine from the office.
Every business in this audit is a real, working company doing excellent work. None of them are named here, and none will be. We publish the pattern, not the businesses — the same way we would never publish yours.
02 The same business, rebuilt
Drag it.
A real cabinet shop's homepage on the left, our rebuild on the right. Same company, same photographs, same words — theirs is 36.4 MB and takes a minute for the main image to finish. Ours is 0.79 MB and lands in under three seconds.
Before 36.4 MB
After 0.79 MB
Mobile performance 61 → 100 Main image loads 61.4s → 2.9s Page weight 36.4 MB → 0.79 MB
What their homepage sends to a phone36.4 MB
One block = 100 KB.
What ours sends0.79 MB
Same photographs, same content, same business.
03 How it works
We build it first. You decide after.
We find you
Usually because something measurable is wrong — a slow site, an unclaimed Google listing, no way to get a quote at 10pm.
We build the replacement
Your real photos, your colours, your reviews. Not a mockup — a working site on a private link.
We call you
You look at it while we are on the phone. Two minutes. If you hate it, you have lost two minutes and we have lost a week.
If it's a yes, we go live
Your domain stays in your name. Your email keeps working — we check the mail records before we touch anything.
04 What we ship
A demonstration build.
Harlow & Oak is not a real company. It is one recent build, not the limit of what we do — we built it to show what we ship, using licensed photography, without putting another business's name on our marketing. When our first client goes live, their real site replaces it here — with their permission.

06 Pricing
What it costs. On the page, where it should be.
Almost nobody in this industry publishes a price — not the agencies, and not most of the businesses they build for. That is a choice, and it is not one we are making.
Standard
$2,500
then $179 / month
Everything in the list above, including your Google Business Profile claimed and optimised.
Plus
$3,800
then $279 / month
Standard, plus review automation, published pricing, a trade page and monthly reporting.
One-time
$3,900
no monthly
Build only. You host it. Edits at $125 per hour after the first 30 days.
Your domain stays in your name, on your card. Thirty days' notice, no contract, no cancellation fee. If you leave, we hand over the files and point the DNS wherever you want. Prices in Canadian dollars, plus applicable tax.
Most shops already pay $30–50 a month for hosting they cannot use. The real difference is about $140 — and it includes someone answering the phone when your hours change.
07 The obvious questions
Asked and answered.
My nephew built it.
Fair, and it was probably fine when it was built. What changed is that Google now ranks mobile speed directly, and that is not a one-time job — it needs maintaining. None of this takes anything away from what he did.
I already pay for hosting.
Cancel it. Ours includes the domain, SSL, backups and the edits — and you stop being the person logging into GoDaddy at 10pm.
I get all my work from word of mouth.
That is usually the sign of a good operator. But word of mouth now means someone gets your name from a friend and then Googles you before they call. Your website is not finding new customers — it is confirming the ones you already earned. Right now it may be leaking some of them.
How do I know you won't disappear?
We are in Milton, the number is below, and you do not pay anything until the site is live and you have seen it working. Your domain is registered in your name on your own card, and it never leaves.
It's too expensive.
Compared to what, though — what is one new customer worth to you? For most of the businesses we work with, it pays for itself on the first job. If it does not bring you a single job in a year, we have wasted your money and we would rather know that now.
You built a version of my site without asking. Is that allowed?
We build it only from information and images already published on your own public website. It is hidden from search engines, it carries a visible notice saying it is unofficial and not yours, and its forms do not work — so nobody can contact you through it by accident. Ask us and it comes down within 24 hours, no questions and no sales attempt. If you never reply, it comes down within 30 days anyway.
